I won’t stand for mediocre love.
I want it to make my knees buckle.
I want love to swallow me up
like storm clouds.
Roll over me with its warm grey
and let me fall down like rain.
I want love to rinse me clean and shock me.
I want love to be something both thrilling
and reassuring.
I want to curl up with it in front of a fire
and lose track of time.
I want to make a world beneath our sheets.
A universe no one else can see.
I want our feet and bare skin
brushing against the others.
Gentle sparks setting fire to hearts
hidden behind the softest barbed wire.
I want the taste of your lips atop my tongue, and that wild, rampant hair across my face.
I want your bated breath, arching back,
and every curvature.
I want your love coursing through me.
I want to be awestruck by you forever.
I want to love you in every way
you’ve prayed for.
I want the love we’ve been waiting for
our entire lives.
There are things in life best enjoyed in doses and small moderation –
but this is not one of them.
I refused a lackluster love, and the world brought me you, a brilliant wildfire.
And now there’s not a single part of everything you are that I could live without.
